Why scientists switch to SameSpots
SameSpots is designed for proteomics labs that have outgrown a legacy package or been left behind by a discontinued one. If you have been wrestling with any of these, the trial is worth your time:
Missing values wrecking your statistics.
Software that detects spots separately on each gel and then tries to match them leaves gaps wherever a spot was found on some images but not others. SameSpots warps every image into
the same coordinate space first, then propagates a single shared spot pattern across all of them: 100% matching, every spot location measured in every image (even when a spot isn’t present) , and a complete dataset for valid multivariate statistics.
Days lost to manual spot editing.
Where other packages ask you to visit each gel individually, SameSpots edits propagate across every image at once. Labs routinely report analysis that used to take days finishing in a few hours, with typical alignment and analysis times of under five minutes per gel.
Running software that is no longer supported.
If you are still on Bio-Rad’s PDQuest, GE Healthcare’s DeCyder or DECODON’s Delta2D, you are working without updates, security patches or technical support. When Bio-Rad discontinued PDQuest they reviewed the alternatives and specifically recommended SameSpots to their existing users.
Paying separately for DIGE.
Some packages charge for DIGE as a separate module on top of the base license. SameSpots covers conventional 2D-PAGE, 2D-DIGE, 2D Western blots and 2D-DIBE in a single license, with no add-ons and no upsells.
Needing 21 CFR Part 11 or GMP compliance.
Combined with our AuditSafe module, SameSpots delivers full FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11 compliance: audit trails, electronic signatures, granular user permissions and image authenticity verification, from captured image through to final report. Most alternative 2D gel analysis tools have no equivalent compliance pathway.
What you get with your trial
- A free, time-limited SameSpots trial license, sent to the email address you provide
- Getting-started guidance, including how to import your existing gel images
- Help moving your historical data across if you are migrating from PDQuest, DeCyder, Delta2D or Melanie
- Full technical support from our UK-based scientific team throughout the trial
- Access to our video tutorials and user manual
- A no-obligation quote if you decide to proceed
For regulated environments: an optional walkthrough of SameSpots with AuditSafe for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance
How it works
- Submit the form above. Tell us a little about your research, the gel types you run, and what you are hoping to evaluate.
- Receive your trial license within one business day. The license key is sent to the email address you provide, so please double-check it is correct.
- Install and evaluate on your own data. Run SameSpots on real gel images from your own experiments, not a demo dataset.
- Get support as you need it. Our team is on hand to answer questions throughout the trial.
What existing users say
“SameSpots has greatly reduced the time needed for 2D-DIGE analysis. I can now complete an analysis in less than one-quarter of the time that it would have taken when using the previous supplier’s software, while at the same time
obtaining more consistent and reliable results due to the excellent gel alignment and spot matching features. I have no doubt that SameSpots will very quickly pay for itself in the terms of salary time alone.”
Todd M. Umstead, Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine
“We moved from competing software to SameSpots as it gives much more robust analysis of DIGE experiments – no ‘missing data’ issues and lots of statistical tools. The other major factor in our decision is that TotalLab is continually improving the software and works closely with customers to respond to their needs and suggestions.”
Mike Dunn, Professor of Biomedical Proteomics, UCD Conway Institute, and
Vice-President of the British Society for Proteome Research
“The main difference is the speed at which we can analyze our gels. Initial analysis that could take days before can now be achieved within a few hours. The results we are obtaining are extremely robust and reproducible. The
matching is excellent, and hardly any manual spot editing is required.”
Dr. Ayesha De Souza, Senior Research Fellow, Cardiac Proteomics, St George’s
University of London
