Why labs switch to CLIQS 1D Pro

CLIQS 1D Pro is built for labs that compare and identify samples across many gels, not just quantify single images. If any of these sound familiar, the trial is worth your time:

  • BioNumerics or GelCompar II has been discontinued. Applied Maths phased out BioNumerics at the end of 2024 and support is no longer available. CLIQS 1D Pro gives PFGE, DNA fingerprinting and microbial typing labs an actively developed, fully supported home for cross-gel matching and cluster analysis.
  • Distortion between gel runs makes comparisons unreliable. CLIQS 1D Pro’s algorithms compensate for the warping and drift between separate runs, so lanes from different gels can be matched accurately, as if they were all run on the same gel at the same time.
  • Matching bands by eye or in ImageJ doesn’t scale. Once you’re comparing dozens or hundreds of lanes, manual matching is slow and subjective. CLIQS 1D Pro automates lane and band detection and lets any lane in your database be compared against any other.
  • Your images are pictures, not data. CLIQS 1D Pro exports similarity matrices (including Dice / Band Sharing Index) for downstream statistics, and generates dendrograms and phylogenetic trees directly, so results feed straight into your analysis rather than sitting in an image folder.
  • Unknown samples need identifying fast. Search your database of characterized lanes to identify unknowns by their band patterns, whether that’s bacterial strains, wheat varieties or lateral flow test batches.
  • You use more than one scanner or imaging platform. CLIQS 1D Pro is fully vendor-neutral and works with images from every major scanner and imager brand, as well as Bioanalyzer-style electropherogram outputs.
